Meet the team
Billy Mauer pitched for Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota during college. Pro scouts had clocked his fastball at over 90 mph. He led the team to a Conference Championship in 2003 and earned First Team NSIC.
Billy signed with the twins as a free agent after college and played in their minor leage system for Class A Quad City in Davenport, Iowa, where he had a 3.52 ERA summer. He also went 3-1 with a 1.71 ERA for the Gulf Coast League Twins in Fort Myers.
Unfortunately, chronic shoulder problems forced Billy to retire from the game.
Jake Mauer III was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 23rd round of the Major League Baseballs 2001 draft. He led the University of St. Thomas to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2001 and runnerup in 1999 & 2000. He Batted .449 with a school record 84 hits and a team best 58 RBIs in 2001, which earned him MIAC Player of the Year and MVP. Jake was inducted into the UST hall of fame
After advancing through the Twins system to their AA minor League affiliate New Britain Rock Cats, an elbow injury prevented Jake from the way he wanted. Jake is currently the manager of MN Twins affiliate Fort Myers Miracle.
Stephanie Mauer played softball for the University of Minnesota from 2002-2005. She batted in the lead-off spot and played all three outfield positions. She finished second in batting average her last two years and led the team in at bats, runs scored, sacrifice hits and stolen bases. Stephanie was also named to the metrodome softball classic all-tournament team twice and received the honors of first team all region and second team all big ten her senior season. She is currently second in total career stolen bases and third in single season records at the University of Minnesota.
